nohup
command [arguments] &
Continue to execute the named command and optional command arguments after you log out (make command immune to hangups; i.e., no hangup). In the C shell, nohup is built in. In the Bourne shell, nohup allows output redirection; output goes to nohup.out
by default. In the Korn shell, nohup is an alias that allows the command it runs to also be aliased. (See Chapter 4 and Chapter 5.)
