  • is a 64 bit SBus on the 20
  • Model 50, 502, 61 and 612 run at 25MHz
  • Model 51 and 514 run at 20MHz
  • Model 514 takes up TWO of your FOUR SBus slots.
  • Model HS14 does not occupy any of the SBus slots.

    MEMORY

  • max memory is 128MB (16MB SIMMS), 256 (32MB SIMMS) OR 512MB (64MB SIMMS)
  • Memory Bandwidth 320MB/sec to 400MB/sec
  • Memory width 144bits
  • Memory is ECC and 60ns
  • Except for slot 0 which must always have a SIMM plugged in to
  • boot the machine, SPARCstation 10 SIMMs can be added in any order.
  • However, to keep airflow across the DSIMMs and through the chassis as
  • efficient as possible, there is a recommended DSIMM installation
  • sequence which is printed in the SPARCstation 20 DSIMM Installation
  • SPARCstation 20's DRAM SIMMs were unique to the SPARCstation 20
  • SPARCstation 20's DRAM SIMMs can be used in the Ultra series
  • SPARCstation 20 SIMM modules come in 16-MB, 32-MB or 64-MB increments

    MONITOR

  • optional; color 17" and 20"and 20" grayscale

    PROCESSOR cache

  • Texas Instruments Super SPARC
  • Super SPARC or Viking is a super scalar
  • implementation of SPARC that follow Version 8
  • what this means is that it can execute more then
  • 1 instruction per clock cycle
  • Viking has 20KB of instruction cache on-board
  • Viking has 16KB of data cache on-board
  • Viking has an optional external cache of 1MB
  • Model 30,40,402,50 and 502 are the only processors that do not have
  • the external 1MB cache
  • HyperSPARC modules HS21,HS22,HS14 have 8KB on-board and 256KB L2 cache and
  • works best for EDA applications.
  • HyperSPARC module HS151 and HS152 have 8KB on-board and 512KB L2 cache and
  • are now considered more of a general purpose processor.

    CPU

  • SuperSPARC
  • Model 50 at 50 MHz, (1 processor) no external cache
  • Model 502 at 50 MHz, (2 processors) no external cache
  • Model 51 at 50 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 514 at 50 MHz, (4 processors) external cache dual MBus
  • Model 514 takes up TWO of your FOUR SBus slots
  • Model 61 at 60 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 612 at 60 MHz, (2 processors) external cache
  • Model 71 at 75 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 712 at 75 MHz, (2 processors) external cache
  • HyperSPARC
  • Model 11 at 100 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 12 at 100 MHz, (2 processors) external cache
  • Model 14 at 100 MHz, (4 processors) external cache
  • Model 21 at 100 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 22 at 100 MHz, (2 processors) external cache
  • Model 151 at 150 MHz, (1 processor) external cache
  • Model 152 at 150 MHz, (2 processors) external cache

    MMU

  • supports 64,000 contexts
  • the SS20 board supports V8 of the SPARC
  • Reference MMU spec
  • This allows for QUAD Precision 128 bits also

    GRAPHICS

  • The SX is on the motherboard, it is enabled by a VSIMM purchase
  • The SX takes either 1 4MB VSIMM or 1 8MB VSIMM
  • The 20 can use the TGX,TGX+, SX, M (multimedia) or ZX

    PERIPHERALS

  • internal floppy, internal CD-ROM no caddy, up to 2 internal SCSI disks
  • internal speaker with 16 bit audio, line in, line out, headphone, mic.

    PORTS

  • 2 RS232/423 ports on cpu board - jumper to change
  • 1 10MB SCSI-2, NO ISDN ports, 1 parallel port
  • 1 RS423/232 port that has a Y cable for two ports
  • A is async or sync and B is ansync only
