Netra t1 Server
An affordable Solaris[tm] (SPARC[tm] Netra Platform Edition) server
aimed specifically at the needs of service providers, the Netra T1
server completes the Netra t product line. Sun designed the Netra t1
server from the ground up as a powerful I/O processing server optimized
for high-density rack-mount environments. It has no frame buffer, audio
capability, mouse port or even keyboard port -- it's managed entirely
from the console.
-One of the Netra t1 server's key features is its small
form factor: its chassis measures just 1U (1.75") high, allowing it to
be densely packed into existing racks. This helps reduce operating
system costs by using exiting space more efficiently. In addition, the
Netra t1 server package includes a 19" rack-mounting kit with rails
that uses no vertical rack space.
-Sun also designed the Netra t1 server
to provide high levels of availability. A lights-out management (LOM)
module lets system administrators monitor the system board, fan power,
RPM, and temperature via a dedicated LOM serial port, combined
console/LOM serial port, or alarm software that can be tied into SNMP.
The LOM module also allows remote power on/off and cycle, and has an automatic server
restart (ASR) feature.
Service provider input also produced the Netra t1 server's many
serviceability features. Low-profile, hot-pluggable SCSI disk drives
are accessible from the front of the system to allow easy service and
maintenance. The Host-ID module can be pulled out manually, so that the
system can be replaced without affecting software that's
Host-ID-bound.
Additional components and utility features include:
Two built-in Ethernet 10BaseT/100BaseT ports
Built-in RJ-45 serial port connectors for direct connection to standard Category 5
network cable
Cable hooks on the back of the chassis keep cables away from ventilation holes.
A customer label area on the front panel provides an area for identifying the server name or function.
Indicator lights on the front and back of the chassis help administrators detect and isolate problems easily; fault indicator
lights stay on even after the power is turned off.
